Experiencing one of the deadliest pandemics in history has a way of making us pause and reflect. Hear from a few of our members on how they believe the pandemic will impact Health IT and interoperability moving forward.
CommonWell Health Alliance in early December 2018 will be issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP) for a Service Provider for our interoperability infrastructure and services. Often, it is when we take a step back and look at the big picture of the health care industry that we most clearly see the urgent need for true interoperability and can reaffirm the real value that CommonWell services are already bringing to providers and their patients. Last Tuesday, HIMSS provided us with such an opportunity in a webinar co-presented by our executive director, Jitin Asnaani, and Dr. Arthur Lauretano, Chief Medical Officer of Circle Health. As our Executive Director Jitin Asnaani said in our Summer Update back in June, CommonWell continues to rock and roll - both in terms of interoperability and in the news. In this podcast, Jitin discusses CommonWell commitment to person-centered care, progress to date and highlighted announcements such as API development and the use of the updated HL7® FHIR® specifications. In 2013, Cerner was one of seven companies that founded CommonWell Health Alliance. Today, Cerner, along with other CommonWell member companies, has helped bring more than 5,000 providers live on CommonWell services. Circle Health was one of the first acute facilities to take CommonWell services live via Cerner. Circle Health quickly identified that many ambulatory practices in their network had the eClinicalWorks EHR in their offices and its physicians and patient population could benefit if eClinicalWorks participated in CommonWell. In 2016, eClinicalWorks joined CommonWell as a contributing member and quickly moved to building CommonWell services into its EHR to advance affordable nationwide health data sharing. Beebe Healthcare, along with our friends from Nanticoke Health Services in Seaford, demonstrated the pioneering work we have accomplished in the use of CommonWell. CommonWell allows for providers and hospitals to share health data across the country. During the visit, Dr. Washington met with members of the executive team and instrumental team members involved with CommonWell.
