CommonWell Moves Forward with Nationwide Expansion of Services

Today is an exciting day at CommonWell Health Alliance. If you haven’t seen yet, we announced another chapter in our fast-paced progress towards improving health information technology (HIT) interoperability – the nationwide availability of our services. After our successful initial launch in four geographies, now our members can focus on expanding their CommonWell service offerings to their clients across the U.S. In fact, some of our member companies have already begun deploying CommonWell Services at provider sites in Florida, Massachusetts and Washington. We hope you will read about this on the press release issued today.

CommonWell Health Alliance is Honored in Winter/Spring 2014 Web Health Awards(SM) Competition

CommonWell Health Alliance was selected as a winner in the 16th annual Web Health Awards(SM) program. This competition — held twice each year: Winter/Spring and Summer/Fall — recognizes the nation’s best digital health resources. The CommonWell Health Alliance Website (commonwellprod.wpengine.com) received a Silver Award in the Web-based Resource category. While summer is typically the time for family road trips and relaxing by the pool, we at CommonWell are working hard to drive forward our vision that health data should be available to individuals and providers regardless of where care occurs, and that provider access to this data must be built-in health IT at a reasonable cost for use by a broad range of health care providers and the people they serve. What a first year CommonWell Health Alliance has had in formalizing our not-for-profit trade association, adding new members, launching our services in four geographies and releasing our initial specs to the public. Last month at HIMSS14, we appreciated the positive reaction we received from attendees as they watched our founding member companies demonstrate CommonWell services working across different EHRs at different health provider sites. In response to ongoing requests to see our services in action, we will be hosting two webinars in the month of April. The Faces for Interoperability: Building consensus to break down silos to deliver high quality care

Everyone has a story when it comes to the complexity of the health care system. Especially when it comes to accessing and connecting health records. But what good is a great story, if you don’t have someone to share it with. That’s why we launched the Faces for Interoperability effort (aka #ForInterop). Through social media accounts like Twitter and Facebook and direct submissions at CommonWell Health Alliance’s HIMSS booth (#1389), more than a 100 people already have shared their story and support for seamless interoperability across the health care system. CommonWell Announces Launch Geographies and Participants

CommonWell Health Alliance is thrilled to announce today that we are launching our interoperability services in early 2014 at select provider locations in the following geographies:  Chicago, Illinois; Elkin and Henderson, North Carolina; and Columbia, South Carolina. Just 9 months and 1 week ago, we announced CommonWell at HIMSS13, and today, we are proud to share that we are making a huge leap in bringing our cross-supplier data liquidity services to market. As a health IT supplier-led effort, we have the vision that patient data should be available to the patient and their health care providers regardless of where the care occurs or what health IT system the provider uses. It wouldn’t be Fall without a series of health care events taking place around the country. In a recent post, we talked about the great CommonWell conversations that were had at the member user conferences for Sunquest, Allscripts and Greenway. But it doesn’t stop there, CPSI and McKesson hosted their user conferences these past couple weeks, and this week, Cerner is busy celebrating the Chiefs undefeated record…and hosting their conference to 10,000 attendees in Kansas City. The CommonWell member teams are busy on the road and thrilled to be sharing the progress of the Alliance with our user communities.
