April 24, 2026 – CommonWell Health Alliance today submitted comments in response to the Recognized Coordinating Entity® (RCE®) draft Standard Operation Procedures (SOP) for TEFCA® Individual Access Services (IAS) 3.0. As a longstanding leader in health information exchange and interoperability responsible for billions of transactions and thousands of entities, our comments are in support of these proposed steps and include additional recommendations.

These recommendations include strengthening patient matching, protecting privacy, and simplifying requirements to support broad, consistent adoption of Individual Access Services across the TEFCA ecosystem. We believe that we no longer have the luxury of continuing to delay implementation of these critical actions.

We look forward to continuing to work with the RCE, ONC®, and the broader interoperability community to help ensure IAS is implemented in a way that is secure, scalable, and delivers meaningful value to patients.
