Anyone and everyone can talk interoperability, but CommonWell Health Alliance members are all committed to building interoperability into their software so that providers can work seamlessly within their existing workflow. Members have made tangible headway on that effort by focusing on four initial services that facilitate exchange:  identity management, record locator, consent management and trusted data access. The notion that CommonWell would “sell data” is absurd, but especially inaccurate in light of our focus on these services.  CommonWell places the highest importance on patient privacy and security. We have not and will not ever sell personal health data. That is not what we’re about. You may have seen our news reported yesterday of all our service launch clients going live AND expanding our services to additional locations, including national health system, Tenet Healthcare. But there’s more – we are now pleased to report that CVS Caremark and MEDHOST have joined as contributing members to the CommonWell Health Alliance. Closing Out a Year of Work & Collaboration, Moving to Launch Phase

As CommonWell enters 2014, it’s critical that we, its founding members, translate our enthusiasm for interoperability as a common good into clear value for the health care industry. Early in the year, we will begin to show the world that the underlying workflows we’ve been developing across each of the founding members’ platforms are progressing, and most importantly, will become the information rails from which information will flow and patient care will improve. CommonWell’s work will have tremendous impact on the patient and provider experience. Introducing our Board of Directors

As you may have seen this morning, CommonWell Health Alliance is officially an incorporated trade association and with that comes the election of our Board of Directors. As I said in our press release, I am proud and very fortunate to have such a talented group of individuals joining me on the Board. We have been working collaboratively for the last eight months to help break down the barriers of health data exchange. I write this as the Alliances comes off of a working session in Denver, where our member companies demonstrated tremendous progress both on the operational and technological front.
