CommonWell Welcomes Kareo, MEDITECH, Merge, PointClickCare & SIS!

Spring has certainly been busy on the membership front at CommonWell. We recently announced new members just a few weeks ago and today it is my pleasure to share more great news. Kareo, MEDITECH and Merge have joined the Alliance as contributing members. PointClickCare and Surgical Information Systems (SIS) have joined the Alliance as General Members. More about our new members below. Additionally, CommonWell will be hosting membership conversations and services demonstrations at our booth #3960 at HIMSS15 April 12-16th. A New Era

After decades of churn, burn, progress and regress, the forces of technology and business are slowly but surely zeroing in on what should have been obvious in the first place: health and care need to be centered around the Person. When a patient or a provider wants to know the patient’s health and care history, they should not be limited to the data available on the local EHR. CommonWell Health Alliance and CPSI

CPSI became a member of the CommonWell Health Alliance following its launch announcement at HIMSS13. We immediately assigned various CPSI employees in the role of working with other Alliance members from the other EMR vendors with the task of developing a seamless interoperability service. Our involvement since the launch has been a rewarding journey leading up to HIMSS15. Immediately after HIMMS13, Alliance members had several face-to-face meetings and many more conference calls during the remainder of 2013 as a solution was developed and the Alliance became a working entity; all with volunteer support from the membership! All the hard work and dedication to the project resulted in the announcements of a Pilot Service being demonstrated in several separate geographies beginning in the 1st quarter of 2014. CommonWell Moves Forward with Nationwide Expansion of Services

Today is an exciting day at CommonWell Health Alliance. If you haven’t seen yet, we announced another chapter in our fast-paced progress towards improving health information technology (HIT) interoperability – the nationwide availability of our services. After our successful initial launch in four geographies, now our members can focus on expanding their CommonWell service offerings to their clients across the U.S. In fact, some of our member companies have already begun deploying CommonWell Services at provider sites in Florida, Massachusetts and Washington. We hope you will read about this on the press release issued today.

CommonWell’s Commitment to our Industry, our Members, and their Providers and Patients

Anyone and everyone can talk interoperability, but CommonWell Health Alliance members are all committed to building interoperability into their software so that providers can work seamlessly within their existing workflow. Members have made tangible headway on that effort by focusing on four initial services that facilitate exchange:  identity management, record locator, consent management and trusted data access. The notion that CommonWell would “sell data” is absurd, but especially inaccurate in light of our focus on these services.  CommonWell places the highest importance on patient privacy and security. We have not and will not ever sell personal health data. That is not what we’re about. New Members, New Gatherings and New Beginnings

You may have noticed that we have been a bit quiet on our CommonWell Community blog lately. To be honest, things have been pretty exciting and busy. We have been bringing on new members, hosting our annual Fall Member Summit and finalizing our Commercial Services contract. Whew. I get tired just thinking about all we have been doing. Having been involved with the Alliance since its pre-formation days, it is a wonderful feeling for me to stop once a quarter and look back to see what we have accomplished. This past quarter is one of my favorite so far.
