Celebrating our award-winning website!

2023-01-31T04:35:30-06:00

We are humbled to share that for the second time CommonWellAlliance.org has been recognized as an award-winning website. Earlier this month, the Digital Health Awards selected our redesigned site, which launched last October, as a bronze winner in the website category.  It is an honor we share with our Digital Marketing agency Chatter Buzz Media. It is also an honor I share with all my CommonWell Marketing colleagues. Those who work to support CommonWell Health Alliance, most as volunteers from our member companies, embody the Alliance’s brand values of Partnerships, Transparency, Accountability, Inclusiveness and Integrity. This website brings those values to life. On behalf of my CommonWell colleagues, we appreciate the recognition of this collaborative effort and hope you come back often to see our latest news and updates. Jennifer [...]

Faces of CommonWell 2015

2023-01-31T04:35:31-06:00

Since our inception in 2013, CommonWell has focused on putting a face to our mission – from our fictitious cancer patient Susan taking us on the journey of how CommonWell works to our member company representatives sharing their view of why nationwide interoperability is a game changer. When we released our first Faces of CommonWell video in June 2013, we had 5 Founding Members and a vision. Today, we have 29 member companies and real world interoperability services live at provider sites across the nation. Our members’ commitment to action will soon contribute to improved health care delivery and outcomes. Check out our newest Faces of CommonWell video below.

Welcome to our Newest CommonWell General Members

2023-01-31T04:35:31-06:00

I am excited to announce our latest membership additions. This month, we continue to build upon our strong representation from the wonderful health IT vendors market, and we begin to expand our membership to incorporate new healthcare stakeholders outside of the vendor community. We have four new General Members. Two are strong IT companies – Caremerge and T-System, who help providers care for patients by coordinating senior care and enabling urgent/emergent care, respectively. Caremerge Caremerge forges meaningful connections between providers, payers, families and seniors seeking to improve communication in today’s complex healthcare environment. With a revolutionary, easy-to-use cloud-based coordination platform, Caremerge keeps the entire care team informed through an intuitive interface that enables real-time staff interaction, provides families with peace of mind and improves overall senior wellness. T-System T-System  is [...]

Record Locator Services – helping to connect your health history to your current health care

2023-01-31T04:35:31-06:00

Do you remember using the internet in the mid-1990s?  Before search engines had been invented?  Before you had Google, Yahoo, Altavista, and so on?  How much harder was it to find stuff on the internet?  Did you use the Web as much as you do today?  Was it even practical for you to do so? Health records face a similar predicament now as the internet faced back then. Today, there are millions of electronic files and reams of records across thousands of medical facilities in the US alone. Rarely is it that one person goes to the same doctor – or even the same medical center – for all of their health care needs. Most patients’ records are scattered throughout various medical systems and doctor’s offices all across hometowns and [...]

Moving Closer to True Person-Centered Interoperability

2023-01-31T04:35:32-06:00

With the bipartisan legislation known as the 21st Century Cures Bill being drafted in the U.S. House of Representatives, which includes mandates that systems be interoperable by the end of 2017 or face reimbursement penalties, the conversation continues around how we can push interoperability forward even faster. And, that’s the right conversation. Person-centered interoperability is essential to our industry’s health reform transformation because data is driving value-based arrangements for care. As information becomes readily available when and where it’s needed, organizations can facilitate care coordination, drive physician alignment, reduce administrative complexity and engage patients in their care to ultimately accomplish population health. To make the conversation meaningful and productive, I think it’s instructive to define what true interoperability is and what it is not. Interoperability is not intra-operability that shares data only [...]

#GotInterop – Let CommonWell Health Alliance know!

2023-01-31T04:35:32-06:00

It’s the third and final day for the Exhibition at HIMSS15. For those of you at the conference, this probably means your feet are aching, your body would like a bit more sleep and your mind is racing to figure out how you are going to make it to all the booths you have yet to see before the show ends. We at CommonWell don’t look at today as our final day to showcase our services and efforts. We look at HIMSS as a starting point, taking away the ideas we have heard, the feedback received and the excitement felt for what we are doing. We also look at it as a way to make new friends and continue to keep connected throughout the year. That is one reason why [...]

CommonWell at HIMSS15 in Chicago

2023-01-31T04:35:33-06:00

For most people in America, this week is all about ensuring you filed your taxes on time and figuring out what you are going to spend your return on, if you were lucky enough to have one. But for those of us working in health IT, this year, it is also about being in Chicago participating in HIMSS15. We at CommonWell Health Alliance love this time of year. It is where we first announced our formation two years ago, and it is where we continue to celebrate the progress we and our members have accomplished in helping to break down barriers  and solve nationwide interoperability. This year, we kicked off that celebration with our 2015 Annual General Meeting on Sunday evening. Our newly announced Executive Director Jitin Asnaani shared his [...]

My mother (and yours) deserves nationwide care coordination

2023-01-31T04:35:33-06:00

Focused hard work, a game-changing service offering and a shared collaborative spirit across members – that is what has made today’s announcement regarding CommonWell’s nationwide expansion possible. I am extremely excited by the prospect that CommonWell is well on its way to making a difference for our fragmented health care system.  As the chair of the CommonWell program management committee, I get to engage with our members – all fierce competitors in their day-to-day lives – as they begin to roll-out the CommonWell services nationwide. This unprecedented initiative has already resulted in more than 60 provider sites live on CommonWell services across 15 states. And we are just getting started. Collectively, we are looking at enabling the services at least 5,000 provider sites nationwide this year.  That takes my breath away; [...]
