It’s hard to believe that 2017 is already almost half over. The CommonWell team –a dogged group of volunteers with unmatched passion and determination (for interoperability of all things!) – continues to lay ever-more-pipeline to facilitate health data exchange nationwide. Mark my words: being an open, collaborative, vendor-neutral organization is not easy. How I miss the corporate days when I had my own resources and could set my own priorities, and could more or less bring everyone else for the ride whenever I was ready to share what we’ve been up to. Of course, I’ve traded off that level of nimbleness for the impact that we get through collaboration. Circle Health, Cerner and eClinicalWorks: Collaborating to Improve Patient Care

In 2013, Cerner was one of seven companies that founded CommonWell Health Alliance. Today, Cerner, along with other CommonWell member companies, has helped bring more than 5,000 providers live on CommonWell services. Circle Health was one of the first acute facilities to take CommonWell services live via Cerner. Circle Health quickly identified that many ambulatory practices in their network had the eClinicalWorks EHR in their offices and its physicians and patient population could benefit if eClinicalWorks participated in CommonWell. In 2016, eClinicalWorks joined CommonWell as a contributing member and quickly moved to building CommonWell services into its EHR to advance affordable nationwide health data sharing. It seems only fitting that as we kick off today at the HIMSS17 conference in Orlando with 40,000+ of our industry colleagues we welcome six new members into CommonWell Health Alliance. Ranging from EHR companies to HIEs and specialty HIT systems, our membership continues to grow not only in numbers but in diversity as well. CommonWell and Carequality to Increase Health IT Connectivity Nationwide with New Collaborative Agreement

The belief that collaboration is a key part of success is not a new one, especially when it comes to achieving nationwide interoperability in healthcare. We have always been dedicated to working together across the industry to break down the barriers to interoperability, which is why we are excited to share CommonWell Health Alliance and Carequality are increasing nationwide health IT connectivity by providing additional health data sharing options to the over 15,000 hospitals, clinics, and other healthcare organizations actively deployed under the Carequality framework or CommonWell network. It is one of my favorite times of year. Football is in full force, the cooler Fall weather is upon us, and some of my favorite people are coming together for the Fall CommonWell Summit and Annual Meeting in Boston this week. Today, we welcome five new members to the Alliance, as we kick off our Summit at the New Member Welcome Meeting. It is hard to believe that this time last year we had 33 members and now we are just shy of 60 members and counting.
