In 2025, the organization announced more than 1.2 billion unique patient records as the network added new members across the U.S. 

BOSTON (February 26, 2026) CommonWell Health Alliance, a nonprofit member-driven alliance and Qualified Health Information Network® (QHIN™), closed 2025 with significant progress toward the organization’s goals of advancing healthcare interoperability and building better access for patients. CommonWell’s work over the past year reflects its continued leadership, network investment, and commitment to member readiness for Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement™ (TEFCA™) participation and support of the CMS Interoperability Framework.

Noteworthy milestones from 2025 include:

  • CommonWell pledged to become a CMS Aligned Network, meaning it will participate in and help define the newly announced CMS Interoperability Framework.
  • CommonWell successfully completed its migration from Change Healthcare to the ELLKAY platform, underscoring its commitment to member readiness for TEFCA.
  • The CommonWell Marketplace launched, providing a new one-stop shop for leading-edge technologies and services.
  • CommonWell made strides toward our vision of seamless patient health data access through CommonWell Individual Access Services (IAS); 91% of CommonWell members currently support IAS to help enable access.

Additional benchmarks include interoperability at scale, with more than 1.2 billion patients represented in CommonWell’s MPI and more than 800 million clinical documents retrieved each month. CommonWell also welcomed 17 new members to the Alliance, including Theta Health, Arkana Laboratories, PrescriberPoint, Vivlio Health, and Guava Health, growing its membership to more than 90 diverse organizations united in advancing interoperability.

CommonWell supports data exchange for 261+ million patients across more than 125,000 provider organizations. The CommonWell platform features purpose-built services that help organizations across 20 types of care settings to easily and effectively participate in the national network. CommonWell is one of 11 Designated QHINs™ across the country. It has also pledged to become a CMS-Aligned Network.
