Who We Are

CommonWell Health Alliance is a not-for-profit trade association funded by membership fees, guided by bylaws and overseen by a Board of Directors. Our members not only built the Alliance we have today, but are the life blood of everything we do.

CommonWell members are using their diverse, collective experience across the care continuum to break down the barriers that have stood in the way of efficient data exchange. Our members are committed to building interoperability into their software so that providers can maximize a trusted network for data exchange while maintaining their existing workflow.

Membership is open to all organizations that share CommonWell’s vision that health IT must be inherently interoperable, including health IT suppliers, health care providers and other health-focused organizations such as non-profit and for-profit institutes.

Founding Members

In 2013, seven competitors formed an unprecedented Alliance to launch CommonWell. Allscripts, athenahealth, Cerner, Evident (then known as CPSI), Greenway Health, McKesson and Sunquest created the vendor-led organization with a laser focus on embedding these interoperability services into the technology to enable seamless, trusted access to health care information across different settings of care.

Today, they continue as active Contributing Members of CommonWell.

Contributor Members

Contributor Members are the foundation for the Alliance. This membership level provides the guidance and governance for the Alliance. Participating Contributor Members quickly receive access to and benefits of CommonWell standards and services as they become available.

General Members

General Members play a vital role in CommonWell Health Alliance. At this level, members have the opportunity to propose revisions or proposals for specifications, test suites and design guidelines of the Alliance, as well as actively engage in Alliance activities.
