Merriam-Webster defines interoperability as the: ability of a system to work with or use the parts or equipment of another system. It’s clear that interoperability is important to the healthcare system, but it means something different to everyone – to providers and payers and patients. Ultimately, though, it delivers good things to every stakeholder. So what does interoperability mean to those of us working on the CommonWell mission? What kind of difference can it make? Meet a few of my fellow alliance members and hear how they define interoperability in this video. Then, tell us - What Does Interoperability Mean to You? Footage was taken at our first CommonWell Member Summit at Cerner headquarters in Kansas City.

So, you might ask: What have we been doing these past three months since announcing the CommonWell Health Alliance at HIMSS13? Great question! And while the list is long, I am a firm believer in blog brevity. So let’s give this a go and see how I do. Patrice Wolfe addresses Alliance members at the CommonWell Member Summit in Kansas City. Directly following the announcement, the founding member companies got to work assembling cross-partner workgroups and creating regular meetings to ensure ample collaboration and energy to meet our ambitious goals. Welcome to the CommonWell Community blog. We are thrilled to launch a blog where we can have open dialogue and provide updates on the progress of the CommonWell Health Alliance and the health care industry at large. In just three short months since we announced CommonWell at HIMSS, the commentary and conversations have been flowing. And we have loved every moment of it. Yes. Every moment.
